Map Site 3: Burning of the Village of Youngstown

The British army burned the village of Youngstown after its capture of Fort Niagara.

The Village of Youngstown was burned to the ground by the British and their Native allies after they had secured the capture of Fort Niagara on December 19, 1813. A handful of structures were clustered around the intersection of what is now Main and Lockport Streets and down on the Niagara River below the bluff.
